Last week Turner Fleischer Architects participated in the CANStruction competition to create a sculpture made entirely from cans of food which are then donated to local food-banks after the competition.

My brother Lester Agnew-Kata works at TFAI and explained their entry into the competition. After accepting suggestions from the entire company and voting they chose to design and build a very large Pin Art sculpture of the Transformers™ logo. Working as a team TFAI designed their sculpture in advance to maximize their odds of succeeding.

It took the TFAI team 7.5 hours to construct and produced these staggering stats: 13,230 cans of tomato paste, 11, 025 tape joints, 2,205 sets of 6 cans, 279 cans per row, 49 rows!

It also produced one heck of alot of tired staff! As a Transformers™ fan, I have to admit this is one amazing sculpture – and all for a good cause too. Here are some pictures of this amazing piece of art.
