Craigs List For Lost and Found Pets!

Our family recent found a nice cat sitting on our doorstep. Clearly a house cat but she was injured slightly and very hungry. We cleaned her up and fed her and let her stay in our house while we created and posted Found Cat signs around our neighborhood.

Over the next couple of days we got one phone call from the flyers we posted. I thought about Craigs List and sure enough posted up an ad for the cat there. Well, I’ve already started getting inquiries about the cat from Craigs List. I find that truly amazing. I know how popular Craigs List is but I never really figured that people on my block would be using it and finding my ad for this cat.

Unfortunately we’ve not found her family yet and she’s growing quite accustomed to our house in the meantime. Hopefully we’ll find her family soon as she is an adorable cat and they must be missing her.

So hats of to Craigs List. If you’ve lost a pet, or found one I encourage you to use it – it’s free!

BTW if you’re looking for a great cat for a family pet email me – she’s probably available for adoption :)

Here is the Craigs List Ad.

Good Weather On The Way For the Weekend!

Well it looks like we’re finally in for some good weather for this weekend. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to it! I for one am. We’re celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary this weekend and we’ve got a great trip planned to Port Hope! The warm sunny weather this weekend will make the trip so much more enjoyable.

We’re staying at Penstowe – an absolutely fantastic bed and breakfast with tremendous services, hospitality, food and accomodations. All for less than a regular hotel!  This will be our third time staying there and it seems to get better each time.

The only difference this time is that we’re bringing our five year old son – which apparently is not a problem for the bed and breakfast. They just gave us the bigger room.

So keep your fingers crossed for great weather and make the most of it while it lasts this weekend!

Gas Fireplaces, Wood Stoves, Regular Fireplaces – I Love A Great Fire

{{Chris}} As a kid I was a little firebug and always enjoyed a campfire!

Now that I am an adult, I still enjoy a great campfire! Fortunately I have a five year old son who likes them too, so he’s my perfect excuse for a fire in the summer. Since we live in the suburbs I bought a fire place table for the backyard and now in the summers when we’re not at the camp ground I pitch our tent in the backyard, and sleep outside after a nice campfire! My son loves it because his friends come over to roast marshmallows and hot dogs – which most kids don’t get to do unless they are camping.

What I miss though is a real fire in our house. I grew up with one, and all that we have in this new house is a gas fireplace. I’d even love to have a wood stove installed in the basement. Perhaps that’s a project for next winter.

While a gas fireplace does not smell as nice as the real thing it is certainly easier to maintain. You just flick a switch afterall and for the most part you don’t have to worry about setting your house on fire. If you have a regular wood fireplace and are tired of the mess you should check out these ventless gas logs. They are less expensive than gas inserts and look really great! What’s amazing about them too is their ability to heat a room in minutes. We often turn ours on during cold winter nights and withing minutes the room is super nice and warm.

We Celebrated Marissa’s Birthday Last Night!

{{chris}} Last night we celebrated Marissa’s birthday!

It’s that time of year again – Declan’s Birthday, Marissa’s Birthday, My moms birthday, Christmas and then New Years – it’s a really busy time but we love every minute of it!

So last night a bunch of us got together at Riley’s Olde Town Pub where we had a fantastic time. The pub was busy but not overcrowded – Lance our server was on top of us the entire time, and the chef’s Prime Rib Dinner was outstanding.

Our company was great and Marissa had a good time! Thanks everyone for coming out with us to celebrate!

We Celebrated Our Nephews Birthday On Sunday!

{{chris}} On Sunday we celebrated my nephew David’s birthday with a breakfast party at Grandmas house!

David turned four on Sunday! We celebrated by having a breakfast party at Grandmas house. We had pancakes and fruit, then we went for a walk with Coco the dog. Afterwards we had cake and then we opened presents!

The boys had a wonderful time as can be seen by some of the pictures we took. Kids are too much fun!

Zig Ziglar On How To Be A Better Spouse!

{{chris}} One of Zig’s latest podcast episodes is about why it’s so important to tell your partner you love them!

I’ll be the first to admit I’m far from a perfect husband. However, being fully aware of that fact and my firm belief that we can all learn and change ourselves means I’m always trying to do better. That’s where Zig comes in – he makes it all sound simple. His latest episode titled “Tell Your Partner You Love Them!” is short but packed with a lifetime of wisdom from Zigs personal life and those he’s met through the years.

If you’re married and you want to hear something funny and inspirational – I recommend you give this episode a listen. It may just change your life and save your marriage!
