Good Weather On The Way For the Weekend!

Well it looks like we’re finally in for some good weather for this weekend. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to it! I for one am. We’re celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary this weekend and we’ve got a great trip planned to Port Hope! The warm sunny weather this weekend will make the trip so much more enjoyable.

We’re staying at Penstowe – an absolutely fantastic bed and breakfast with tremendous services, hospitality, food and accomodations. All for less than a regular hotel!  This will be our third time staying there and it seems to get better each time.

The only difference this time is that we’re bringing our five year old son – which apparently is not a problem for the bed and breakfast. They just gave us the bigger room.

So keep your fingers crossed for great weather and make the most of it while it lasts this weekend!

What a storm tonight!

Wow. Mother nature has sent us yet another rain storm with amazing lightning and thunder. It’s about 10 pm at the top of Grandview at Taunton at our house and the rain storm is just coming on strong!

Looking out our front porch you can see buckets of rain falling flooding the street and our gardens. This is accentuated by the non stop lightning way up in the clouds and rolling thunder.

Twice in the last 20 minutes we’ve had two really loud thunder claps – the lightning must have been pretty close for those.

Hopefully we won’t see any tornadoes – we don’t get those here! Hopefully August will be a little drier.

Summer is finally here, atleast the heat is!

Well the heats here even if summer has not officially arrived yet! I happen to be very thankful after the tortuous winter we’re coming off of. Despite the humidity and sun I am loving every second of it. We just spent the entire weekend playing outside with friends. Our son is only five so a rocket sprinkler is all that’s need to turn the front yard into a water park. It only takes a few minutes before the kids stark coming by to join in the festivities.

So make the most of it and get outside. Wear sunblock and hats, but by golly get out and enjoy this weather. Rest assured it’s going to pass by way too fast and soon enough we’ll be wearing sweaters and day dreaming of warmer days!

Winter Rages On Part IV

This weekend has proved it – we’ve broken many snow records this winter. Apparently we have one more snowfall coming this week.

Fortunately I have some wonderful neighbors and they pitched in by snow blowing many of our driveways. With a few extra shovels we had it all cleaned up in a couple of hours.

I for one have had enough snow. It’s been nice to have it cold and white but we’re into March and it really should be warming up by now.

So we’ll just have to be patient and wait for mother nature to send the warmer weather our way! In the meantime I hope that the rest of the neighbors in your area pitch and help clean up too!

Winter Rages On Part III

I’m amazed at the amount of snow we’ve gotten this year! It’s now Feb 25th and we’re set for another round on Tuesday the 26th and then Friday too!

While I like the snow, snow tubing and toboganning I’m really looking forward to spring!

Hopefully, spring will come soon and the snow will melt away.

Winter Rages On Part II

Holy smokes, it just snowed a week ago, and now we’re in for another round.

There is certainly no lack of snow this year. Winter rages on yet again. It was just last week that I said this and here we are again with another round. Fortunately I am working from home today and won’t have to battle the commute home this evening which I am sure is starting get a little ugly.

A funny thing happened the other day – my driveway was mysterious cleared of snow. In fact, this was the second time. I finally quizzed my neighbors and found it was my neighbor down the street who very graciously starting snow blowing driveways around his house! God bless him! I’m thinking of a nice gift to send his way – perhaps a nice bottle of bourbon or scotch and a cigar (all things that I like, so I guess he might like them too!)

Hopefully spring will come soon!

Winter Rages On!

Winter rages on! Sometimes I like global warming for the warm spells it sends our way. Unfortunately it does not mean it’s just going to get warmer. It means we’re going to have even more extreme weather!

Today is no exception. The wind has blown over my patio furniture and one of my ornamental trees. It even blew a child’s toy truck (steel Tonka) onto my lawn. Not sure where it came from or how far, but it’s there none the less.

It’s the evening now and it does not appear to be letting up. I can hear the wind howling from my basement! Tomorrow does not sound any better. We’re supposed to get the snow storm on top of this wind storm.  I think I may work from home tomorrow – or sneak it after the rush hour depending on the weather and road conditions of course.

While I can pray for warmer weather – I simply can’t make the cold weather go away immediately. So, tonight I am just going to hunker down in front of my warm electric fireplace in the basement (the gas one is upstairs) and watch a movie. I’ll have to resign myself to a couple more months of winter. Atleast I can hope we’ll have some snow to go with the cold temperatures.
